Goals

As I continue my professional journey, my ultimate goal is to be a change agent in nursing education to empower individuals as well as the profession of nursing as a whole.  I hope for a nursing workforce that is efficient, educated, and motivated to make critical changes in the current healthcare system to better the health of individuals, communities, and populations.  Each step taken in my professional career is a learning experience with projects, graduate studies, and career changes as stepping stones towards the ultimate goal of being a leader within the profession of nursing education. The following milestones to be achieved will aid me in this endeavor.

Milestones to be Achieved

April 2021

Graduate with MSN - Nurse Educator

Working towards a graduate degree in nursing education will be the first step in achieving the goal of becoming a leader in nursing.  Through my graduate studies, I have been mentored by colleagues I respect and wish to emulate for their dedication to education, passion for teaching others, and drive to improve healthcare practices.

Fall 2021

Assistant Professor

Being able to work with and instruct students directly to awaken their passion for nursing and healthcare is a second milestone for becoming a leader in nursing education.  As a novice nurse educator, I will strive to perfect my skills in teaching, assessment, and evaluation in order to promote an efficient and educated group of nurse graduates.

Next 5 years

Obtain CNE Certification

In order to be influential and a strong leader, continued education is needed to constantly evaluate current trends in nursing education as well as the healthcare institution in general.  By becoming certified in nursing education I will have additional knowledge, expertise, and appreciation of how to influence and advocate for improved nursing education and growth.
